Commissioner 's Message:

Welcome to the website of the National Youth Commission (NAYCOM) of Sierra Leone. The Commission was established by the Government of Sierra Leone through the National Youth Commission Act No. 11 of 2009 with the object of promoting youth potential, creativity and skills for national development. The Commission operates within the framework of the Ministry of Youth Employment and Sports. This website is established to continue with the efforts at enhancing coherence of policy and coordination of programmes aimed at empowering the youth. It will serve as a means of interaction between the Commission, the youth, international and local youth development agencies, private sector institutions, government agencies and other stakeholders. The NAYCOM website will:

  • - Provide internet presence for the Commission to reach out to youth organizations, district and chiefdom youth councils, youth-serving agencies, government ministries, departments and agencies, local councils, development partners, UN agencies and other partners across the globe;
  • - Showcase youth programmes and activities undertaken by the commission, youth organizations and all actors in the sector;
  • - Facilitate on-line registration of youth organizations and youth-serving agencies allover Sierra Leone as well as those in the Diaspora;
  • - Assist youth in job search through uploading resumes and CVs into the website. This can help to place youths to jobs, scholarship schemes, volunteer work, etc., by using information on their skills and academic background;
  • - Provide an interactive blog and chatroom that creates a discussion forum for young people on various issues relating youth and national development;
  • - Function as a database of information on youth, youth programmes and activities of the Commission.

We hope that you will find information here useful and will help you develop yourself as a youth or will enhance your contribution as a stakeholder in the empowerment of our young people. We also welcome your comments on the website, the National Youth Commission and youth programming in Sierra Leone.
